As a Town Councillor and District Councillor I deal with all sorts of issues. Here is just a flavour of some of what I have dealt with in the last few months. Flooding on the Weybourne road pavements was reported to myself before Christmas and this was immediately reported and discussed with Highways who have registered it.They also advised before Christmas a technician will be visiting the site to ascertain what can be done to solve this problem. I am sure this will be completed shortly. As a District Cllr I am very proactive in solving any highways or residents issues which have come about. Recently ensuring significant pavement repairs and resurfacing issues which have been ongoing for many years and not addressed in the South Ward and which have now been completed. This has resulted in much safer pavements for our residents in the areas concerned. We have also responded to concerns in Water Bank road and Woodland Rise West and have had speeding data collated for this area with a view to identifying any possible solutions. .
After the flooding in August on Childs Way and Lusher Close and Uplands park, we requested and ensured the cleaning of the gullies took place and a resolution was sought to Holway Road water build up. I have also been involved in supporting the residents in ensuring NCC action takes place and contributing to the NCC Water Management Report and investigation from the event This continues to be on-going work supporting our residents. In addition I also have instigated repainting of a zebra crossing and was instrumental in liaising with Anglia Water and Highways to ensure and support rapid repairs on the Cromer Road after the collapsed sewer. Fallen branches on Curtis lane have also been arranged to be removed and a resident supported to achieve better signage to make the area safer. On Beeston road again I directly removed and disposed of fallen branches to make the road safe and have been working with my fellow district councillors to get NCC to take responsibility for trees next to the highway which are interfering with a residents broadband and telephone line.
A great deal of work has taken place in regard to getting some of our more neglected lokes cleaned up and maintenance work which has not been completed for many years by Norfolk County Council completed. Solutions are also being sought for some significant parking issues in particular Town Centre residential areas. If you have any Highways issues please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will action a response rapidly.
Highways are not the only issues I support residents with. I have been busy supporting residents with housing issues, benefits and financial hardship, Domestic abuse and mental health issues. In addition throughout COVID I initiated and have helped to coordinate Sheringham Community Support. I have also been supporting businesses making sure they are made aware of grants, accessing them and ensuring appropriate support is available as well as liaising with NNDC and national organisations and the press to lobby and to support our Bed and Breakfasts receiving discretionary grant funding. I have also liaised and supported the Chamber of Trade for the same purposes. Please get in touch if you think I can help with anything.
As you can see from the long list above. it is far better to email directly or contact me direct as we always respond and can pick up concerns much more quickly than from Fb posts which we may or not see.
