Big thanks to Sheringham Medical Centre

Back in the warm after her vaccine !

A big thank you to the staff at the Sheringham Medical Centre and the great volunteers who ran this mornings vaccination session at the Medical Centre. A very well organised and friendly session that kept Mum, the people attending and working safe and got that vital vaccine into peoples arms. I understand nearly 600 were done on Saturday and they were aiming for another 400 today and each day this week. Well done to everyone involved.

Sperm whale removed from the East Beach

NNDC contractors remove the 12 tonne young sperm whale from the East Beach

Thank you to the North Norfolk District Council team from Environmental Waste Services for removing the young sperm whale from the East Beach. The prom has been cleaned and is now accessible. It was a difficult and sad job to complete I’m sure. Let’s hope we don’t have any more. Thanks to Robert Walkley for his photographs taken at distance and conforming to Covid guidelines. They give an indication of the scale of the whale and consequential disposal issues. I understand it was in excess of 12tonnes.

Anglia Water work through night after 3 burst water mains

map of burst mains

Following a burst main at approximately 03.00 hrs on Saturday morning Anglian Water attended quickly. However in isolating the first main this caused subsequent bursts in 2 other locations. A road closure was put in place for Woodland Rise West by highways and most people had water back in the afternoon with a few households later in the early evening. Water drops were also made to customers registered on Anglia Water’s Priority lists. Information and updates were shared by myself from early in the morning until the situation was resolved on Saturday evening, on the towns social media groups.

The Woodland Rise West Road closure continues to be in place as remedial works are still required and the diversion is in place and marked, taking drivers along the Cromer Road and up Holway road. There are some areas where water pressure continues to be low. Please let me know if this continues.

I would like to say thank you to the Anglia Water and highways teams who came out and worked through one of our worst days weather wise for some time.

If you have a disability or a member of your household is vulnerable you can register with Anglia water as a priority customer and in the event of future bursts you will then receive a priority water drop. Use the link below to find out more and register. There is also a link here for support with bills if anyone is in financial hardship at the moment.
